Eye Colors - Blue, Green or Brown? Distribution by Percentages
According to the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), there's a very interesting fact about eye colors.
In the past, 100% of humans had brown eyes, until a common ancestor underwent a genetic mutation that caused their descendants' eyes to produce less melanin.
But today, the situation is completely different.
According to recent studies, approximately 75% of people worldwide have brown eyes,
about 9% have blue eyes,
and the rest are distributed among various eye colors.
Additionally, there are significant differences between different populations and geographical regions.
For example, in Scandinavian countries, there's a much higher percentage of people with blue eyes, around 50%.
