Tired Eyes in the Digital Age: Blue Light and Eye Health

Screens, screens, screens... we're totally addicted to them.

Whether it's the computer at work, the phone in hand, or just binge-watching series on Netflix,

our eyes are working overtime.

But what happens to them while we're stuck for hours in front of the screen?

They get tired, dry out, and even suffer.

Blue Light and the Hidden Danger

The screens we stare at emit blue light, a kind of "small radiation" that causes eyes to tire, dry out, and even makes it harder for us to fall asleep.

Screens cause our eyes to strain excessively, and in some cases can even lead to cumulative damage to the retina.

So what can we do to protect our eyes?

  • 20-20-20 Rule: Every 20 minutes - take a break: let your eyes rest a bit, look outside, do eye exercises (yes, that's a thing!), and return to the screen after 20 seconds.
  • Use blue light filters: There are software programs and apps that filter blue light, and even special glasses. About two hours before bedtime, say goodbye to screens.
  • Take breaks: Get up from your chair, let your eyes rest, and do some physical activity. There are also apps that track screen time and alert you when you're overdoing it.
  • Regular eye exams: Don't neglect periodic checkups with a doctor or optometrist - it's important to make sure everything is functioning properly.
  • Don't roll your eyes

Technology and screens aren't always friendly to our eyes, but with a little awareness and attention, we can maintain sharp and healthy vision for years to come.

So take a break from the screen, let your eyes rest, and continue experiencing the world with clear vision!
